Wedding Boot Camp

Wedding Boot Camp

A lot of brides want to lose weight before their wedding day arrives. If this sounds like you, then creating an appropriate diet and workout plan is just as important as any wedding day detail. Most importantly, select a realistic goal for yourself and, please, don’t order a wedding dress more than one size smaller than your current measurements in hopes you will fit into it. This will only cause unnecessary stress, unhealthy habits and the possibility of actually gaining more weight. Eating right, drinking water and exercising are all you need to do to shed some extra pounds.

Wedding Themes for 2011

Wedding Themes for 2011

A themed wedding is one way to turn your big day into an unforgettable experience for yourself and your guests. Among the more popular themes for 2011 are vintage and retro-style weddings. Brides seem to be drawn to the bygone era because it’s viewed as romantic. Eco-friendly and weddings in natural settings are also favorites with brides. Garden and backyard receptions with guests in casual outfits are dominating these themes. And the Tiffany blue theme is still the rage this spring. Whether simple or extravagant, a theme can help make your wedding a spectacular event.

Writing Your Vows

Writing Your Vows

The actual terminology of wedding vows reflects a commitment between husband and wife while uniting them into a legal marital bond. However, the most important thing to consider is being at ease  with what is being said. Every word you utter represents the deep sentiments you carry for your beloved. But if traditional vows don’t cover that, then create vows that do. I suggest a Google search using “writing wedding vows” to help you get started. The beauty of using a search engine is that you can piece together verbiage from various sites in order to create the perfectly personalized vows for your special day.

History Center Makes the List

History Center Makes the List

The Orange County Regional History Center also finds a place on my Top Five venue picks (follow up to blogs from Nov. 2, Dec. 10 and Jan. 25). Located in the heart of downtown, the museum features three floors of permanent exhibitions showcasing collections of the Historical Society of Central Florida as well as nationally important limited-run exhibitions. What I like most about this venue are the location options for ceremonies and receptions. The entire museum is available, including the historic 1927 courtroom and the Heritage Square Courtyard. It also has a nice assortment of approved caterers and will even consider caterers not on its list. For more info on this venue visit TheHistoryCenter.org

Budgeting Your Wedding

Budgeting Your Wedding

You’re engaged! Now it’s time to start the wedding planning process. The most important item to tackle is the budget. Here are some tips on determining a budget you can afford. A good starting point is to figure you’ll be spending at least $150 per guest (half of that amount for food and drinks}. Be sure to make room for what matters most to you. If food and music are the most important parts of your big day, then cut back in other areas like favors and flowers. Use an online budget worksheet/calculator (I like  wedding.theknot.com/wedding-planning-tools/tools-wedding-budget.aspx). Tt’ll keep you on track throughout the entire planning process.

Destination Weddings, Part 2

Destination Weddings, Part 2

I get so excited when brides decide to plan destination weddings. Here are my top three pieces of advice I always pass along: 1) A destination wedding doesn’t necessarily mean going to the beach. Think of all the options just within the U.S. and expand that list by considering a location out of the country. 2) It’s OK to do a destination wedding without family and guests. It’s your day; do it how you want to, friends and family will understand (eventually). Finally, know the marriage requirements associated with your chosen destination. You don’t want to come home just to find out the United States won’t recognize your recent nuptials.

Destination Weddings, Part 1

Destination Weddings, Part 1

Is a destination wedding right for you? It is if you’ve always imagined being married in a beautiful location that also would make a romantic honeymoon site. Most destination wedding venues offer packages that include everything you need for a ceremony and reception, so making selections can be quick and easy. Since your destination’s venue handles everything, your planning process is much less stressful and is completed before you arrive for your big day. And finally, destination weddings can cost less than a traditional wedding (also relieving a little stress). DestinationBride.com is a great resource for planning this type of wedding.
