I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl

I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl

The 2nd annual I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 9,  from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. This unique bridal show experience starts at the Orange County Regional History Center, where each bride-to-be is given a map of “stops” along the bridal crawl, including the Ballroom at Church Street, Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant, Citrus Club, Embassy Suites Hotel, Grand Bohemian Hotel and the University Club. At each venue,  other vendors such as florists, caterers and photographers will be on hand to meet with brides. The crawl is a fun way to father ideas and information on a downtown dream wedding . Advance tickets are $10/person or $15 for two. For more information visit or call 407-836-7035.

Short ‘n Sexy

Short ‘n Sexy

Hemlines are on the rise! Brides today are opting for cocktail-length dresses for their bridesmaids—and I love it. With most gowns averaging between $100-$300, the additional wearability of a short dress makes it worth the investment for bridesmaids. And fortunately there’s no shortage of cute styles, fabrics and color options. Be sure to pick up the January issue of Orlando Wedding magazine to view my two-page spread of beautiful dresses by Alfred Angelo, Amsale, Coren Moore (pictured here) Lazaro and more. All dresses featured are available at local bridal salons.

Harry P. Leu Gardens

Harry P. Leu Gardens

By now you’re probably wondering what other wedding venues make up my top five list after Dubsdread, which I blogged about on Nov. 2. Leu Gardens joins my list because it offers incredible garden spots for ceremonies as well as well-appointed indoor reception facilities (indoor space also works for ceremonies if inclement weather occurs). My favorite spot for ceremonies is the Leu House Museum front lawn (pictured here). Be sure to reserve your wedding date early; this venue books very quickly. And be aware of its reservation policies—ceremonies get a two-hour block and receptions get a four-hour block, with predetermined days and times available. For more info visit

Trashy Photo-Op

Trashy Photo-Op

Trash the dress is a popular secondary photo session after weddings, allowing brides and grooms to get creative pictures in unusual locations without the worry of being “wedding day picture perfect.” It’s a really cool idea, especially for those who want more artistic shots instead of posed portrait-style photos. And fortunately for us, Florida has unlimited possibilities for trash the dress photoshoot destinations (Kristina Sutton Udy, pictured here with her Trash the Dress shoot at New Smyrna Beach). But there’s way more to this story and I don’t want to spoil it here, so be sure to check out my article in the January issue of Orlando Wedding magazine.

Waldorf Opens Wedding Studio

Waldorf Opens Wedding Studio

Last week I attended the grand opening of the Weddings Studio at the new Waldorf-Astoria Orlando. The studio, located near the front lobby, will offer brides and grooms private meeting space to plan every intimate detail of their wedding and/or reception at the luxury resort near Downtown Disney. This concept gives brides a very hands-on experience: They'll be able to visualize their event down to the linens and flatware. In addition, the studio will be partnering with Neiman Marcus, Cartier and other top-end Central Florida wedding vendors to provide a seasonal rotation of promotional displays. The Weddings Studio is by appointment only, call 407-597-5500, or go to
