11/17/11AN ECO-FRIENDLY FLOWER OPTION & BUDGET-CUTTING TIPS
Eco-Friendly Flower OptionSola Wood flowers, also called balsa wood and tapioca wood, are small delicate wood flowers that are a popular trend in European floral arrangements—and the unique florals are making their way to the U.S., popping up bridal bouquets, boutonnieres and other wedding staples. Sola wood is a naturally occurring paper product derived from the tapioca plant. The interesting part is that it doesn’t feel like paper but more like a shell you’d find at the beach. Each Sola Wood flower is handmade, making it again appear as though it was carved out of a shell. These dainty wooden flowers not only provide an eco-friendly alternative to real flowers, they are beautiful and inspire a wide variety of design possibilities. Their... 11/08/11ORLANDO BRIDAL DESIGNER, PROPOSAL ETIQUETTE & DISNEY BRIDAL STROLL
ORLANDO BRIDAL DESIGNER SHOWCASEThe Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes hosted a bridal fashion show and champagne meet-and-greet with Orlando designer Rania Hatoum, who shared her 2012 bridal collection she had just debuted the weekend prior at New York’s Fashion Week. Front-row seats afforded close-up views of Rania’s designs, many of which featured incredible beadwork, with unique patterns that were perfectly tailored. The Dunrobin (pictured here) was a collection stand-out, with elements reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown but with an understated back that was completely elegant. I’m more of the traditional type and prefer long gowns for formal affairs, but some of her short dresses would be nice as second-wedding... Posted at 04:03 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

09/29/11HILTON ORLANDO MULTICULTURAL WEDDING SHOWCASE & SELECTING A FLORIST
HILTON ORLANDO MULTICULTURAL WEDDING SHOWCASE OW: Editor Leigh Duncan and I recently attended a wedding professionals FAM this past weekend held at the Hilton Orlando to learn about what’s new with wedding trends, specifically pertaining to multi-cultural weddings, décor, food and more. We are fortunate to have so many venue options in the Central Florida area (visit our Wedding Resource Guide on our website at www.orlwedding.com <http://www.orlwedding.com> for options), however, our stay at the Hilton Orlando felt like a destination retreat without having to even leave the area. Beyond stately exterior and tropical pool lanscaped with a winding lazy river, inside bellies a contemporary resort with sophisticated and elegant décor to fit... 09/15/11GETTING PICTURE-PERFECT SKIN & WEDDING WEDNESDAY EVENT
GETTING PICTURE-PERFECT SKIN: Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, and it starts with beautiful skin — the face arms, back and décolletage. Most wedding gowns will expose areas of bare skin, especially if they are backless, strapless or have a low-cut neckline. With all the excitement of becoming a bride and planning a wedding, skincare can actually fall down the priority list. But the reality is, the earlier you start thinking about and planning a skincare regimen, the better. Posted at 07:15 AM | Permalink | Comments: 1 |

09/02/11SEATING CHARTS & TIPS FOR ALTERATIONS
SEATING CHARTS: I think one of the most stressful tasks in planning a wedding is establishing the seating chart. Personally, I think it’s easiest to forgo the seating chart and just let everyone sit where they want. You know there will be a few guests who didn’t RSVP but still show up, and then others who do RSVP but don’t show. Arranging this seating last-minute (usually when you arrive at the reception) can be even more stressful when you should be focusing on having fun. But I completely understand the idea and some of the advantages of having a seating chart. A seating chart can make your reception more organized and make mingling much easier when you know where important guests are located. It also helps keep elders from noisy children,... 08/30/11PETS IN WEDDINGS & A CELEBRITY WEDDING POLL
PETS IN WEDDINGS: If you’re a pet lover and you’re getting married, then you’ve probably considered making your four-legged friend a part of your big day. For many owners, pets ARE family members. Pets in weddings is a popular trend that’s gaining steam and credibility, as more and more people want to include their pet family members in some form or fashion. But before running out to buy diamond-studded collars and custom-made tuxedos (doggie-sized of course), there are a few things to consider. First, conform that your venues, both ceremony and reception, will allow it. Some churches and other venues have pet restrictions, so you might have to consider alternate locations. Secondly, if you want to use your pet as a ring bearer or attendant,... Posted at 01:33 PM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |

08/16/11LAKE RECEPTIONS & WEDDING PHOTO CHECKLIST
LAKE RECEPTIONS: Mount Dora is one of my favorite places in Central Florida. Great places to eat, shop and of course – get married! Lake Receptions is located in the heart of historic Mount Dora and has been recognized as one of the area’s premier banquet and wedding facilities. Its fairytale-like architecture and décor creates the perfect backdrop, while it’s chameleon-like interior transforms to accommodate a wide variety of wedding themes. What I like most about this venue [and their staff] is the eagerness to create an individualized event that will exceed what any bride has envisioned for her wedding day. That kind of customer service is priceless and what every bride deserves. Posted at 08:09 AM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |
