Friday:

Booktoberfest – Orlando Public Library – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sample a variety of beers from America's Oldest Brewery, Yuengling Beer, and enjoy German fare provided by Roque Pub and Chef 1 Studios Intimate Events. Test your knowledge with trivia with Curtis Earth Trivia, and bid on the silent auction with prizes from local businesses and organizations, plus live entertainment by the Central Florida Accordion Club. Movie Night – Leu Gardens –7:30 p.m.

Enjoy an outdoor screening of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, weather permitting. Curbie’s Sidewalk Cafe and Shadrach’s Fiery Furnace Pizza will be selling food and Peak Season Pops will be selling popsicles and popcorn. Saturday:

German American Society Oktoberfest – Casselberry – noon to 10 p.m.

The German American Society of Central Florida has two Oktoberfests, three weeks apart, so you won’t miss out on the fun. Authentic German bands, including Heimatland Musikanten, are on tap, along with Bavarian beer, home-cooked German food, German dancers and a Bavarian biergarten. For more info: orlandogermanclub.com

Reggae on the Block – Downtown Orlando – 4 p.m.

This outdoor, multistage reggae fest takes over a block of Washington Street just west of Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando for one day each year. Woodstock Winter Park – Mead Botanical Gardens – 6 to 10:30 p.m.

Enjoy a far-out evening under the stars complete with food, cocktails, and a live concert. It's one night of peace and music to benefit the gardens. For more info: meadgarden.org

Functionally Literate – Orlando Public Library – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A reading, audience Q&A, book signing, and discussion of dark themes in literary Young Adult fiction, featuring NY Times Bestselling author Girl in Pieces Kathleen Glasgow and Because of the Sun author Jenny Sanchez-Torres. For more info and to RSVP: eventbrite.com

Sunday:

Free Family Fun Day – Mennello Museum of American Art – noon to 4: 30 p.m.

Create a portrait, or even a blissful moment in time, in the color-filled, cut out style of Alex Katz. Admission is free and free docent tours will be offered from noon to 2:30 p.m., galleries remain open until 4:30 p.m. For more info: facebook.com/events/102169637191971

Big Band Concert – Osceola Arts Main Theatre – 2:30 p.m.

Always a crowd pleaser, this concert will feature music from the popular big band era as well as some other popular tunes set to the lively swing rhythms of this 16 piece band. For tickets and more info: tickets.osceolaarts.org

Multi-Day Events:

Rock, Mineral, Gem, Jewelry & Fossil Show – Florida National Guard Armory – Fri to Sun

The not-for-profit Central Florida Mineral & Gem Society assembles a group of vendors offering beads, minerals, gemstones, custom jewelry, fossils, artifacts, and other items for sale. The show includes silent auctions, door prizes, demonstrations, and family activities. Friday 1-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more info: cfmgs.org

Bicycle Festival – Mount Dora – Fri to Sun

Florida’s oldest and largest bicycling event has added a fourth day of programs, games and rides. Previous festivals have attracted more than 2,000 cyclists, with rides of varying lengths throughout Lake County. For more info: mountdorabicyclefestival.com
