With the world of Marvel at Universal Orlando and the Star Wars universe at Walt Disney World, Orlando is the home of fantasy fandom. And the latest addition to the Orlando “nerd-o-sphere” is providing a headquarters for super fans to congregate no matter whether they fight for good or evil. Gods & Monsters, the nation’s second-largest comics, toys, collectibles and gaming venue, located inside Artegon Marketplace on north International Drive, is leveling up Orlando’s pop culture offerings.

The high-end, innovative comics and collectibles store is 18,898 square feet of sought-after collectible merchandise including new and rare releases, import items and vintage collectibles. Inside, the atmosphere and décor are skillfully created by scenic effects artists whose portfolios include Central Florida’s world-famous theme parks and attractions, making the venue equal parts attraction and retail market.

Co-founders Todd Fisher and Anna Young say their concept aims to give every genre a space within Gods & Monsters. “We’re diversified between fantasy, sci-fi and superheroes,” Fisher says. “We give space to every element of fandom and have room to adapt to new and evolving stories and characters. The goal is to give fans something they’ve never seen before.”

Fisher and Young are comic and toy retail veterans with nearly 40 combined years in the business. Multiple winners of ‘Best of Orlando’ awards, the two have operated some of the region’s finest stores and galleries including Acme Superstore in Longwood, A Comic Shop in Winter Park and Tekno Comix in Altamonte Springs.

Gods & Monsters is currently bulking up its inventory and actively buying collections. Soon new and weekly issues of popular comics will be regularly in stock.

Gods & Monsters features:
The Transmetropolitan Gallery – A pop-culture, fine-art gallery featuring a rotating array of top-quality comic and media themed art including sculpture, paintings, custom toys and original comic art from local, national and international artists.

The Offworld L.O.U.N.G.E. – A Sci-Fi gaming lounge, heavily inspired by the movies “Blade Runner,” “Alien” and the game “Skyrim,” where guests can enjoy a nice selection of beverages and snacks while facing off in a round of tabletop or console games.

A full calendar of special events is being developed and will include gaming tournaments, midnight-release parties, film screenings, celebrity signings, conventions, art-gallery receptions, charity fundraisers, live bands, DJs and karaoke music nights, comedy and trivia nights and themed costume parties.
