In the OJ case a civil case was filed and OJ was found guilty of killing his wife and her friend. Financial compensation was the legal victory however the family's had personal satisfaction.
Could George and Cindy do the same in Caylee's name?
Since a few people have come forward saying their dead son was Caylees father, IF DNA testing proved that to be true, could that family file a civil suit against Casey?
Casey will have millions before this is over.
Does anyone care anymore about seeking justice for Caylee.
Question is, What about a civil suit against Casey?
When a jury finds a person guilty I know that a sentence can be over turned if it comes out that a jury discussed things that were not brought out the court room or evidence.
Can a verdict of not guilty be over turned in Florida for the same reason?
Do you think the jury found Casey "not guilty" because they felt the state did not prove their case or do you believe they felt she was actually innocent? I think there is a big difference between not guilty and innocent and wonder what you think the jury thought. I can wrap my brain around the idea that they thought the state did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt but no way do I understand how anyone with a brain cell could possibly believe this very disturbed young woman is innocent of killing her daughter.
What happened to Murder in the Second? Any of those other Lessers? (Heck, what happened to Murder One!? Do they really think the tape floated on to the face and attached itself in three strips?) Was this just jury nullification due to DP possibility? Thanks Dave, and Mike, too, for having him on board OM during this time!
Does Zenaida Gonzalez go forward with her civil case now that Casey Anthony's criminal case is over? If so, what monetary penalties is she seeking against Casey? When will the Gonzalez case begin? Does Casey's verdicts of guilty on the four counts of lying to police now make Zenaida's civil case easier to win or will that information be kept from the jury? (if there's anyone left in Florida who doesn't know about these verdicts.) Do Baez or Mason represent Casey in the civil case? Since Mr. Thompson obtained the same lawyer as Zenaida, is he expected to also file a civil case against Casey for defamation? Can he also sue the law firms that were part of the defense team? And, media sources are claiming the IRS filed a $68,000 lien against Casey Anthony last week for unpaid 2008 taxes. Since Casey was declared "indigent" in 2008 and the State of Florida paid for her "Dream Team" defense, how did she make enough income to owe the IRS that much in taxes? What does the IRS say her total income was that year and which employer(s) filed the W-2s or 1099s? Add to all this the possibility of Caylee's father's family filing a civil suit, too, it looks to me like Casey Anthony's legal woes and financial problems are a long way from ever being over. Ain't no rest for the wicked.
Can the judge overturn the verdict? At sentencing?
I wondered what would happen with our Dave now that the trial has ended. I love reading him and automatically come to this site when I boot up my computer. Glad to know he's still here.
Dave, do you think that the jury took Baez's opening statement as evidence and disregarded the judge's instructions re same?
